Last weekend I decided to do a recce of part of the Enduroman Arch to Arc run route. The run starts at Marble Arch so two of my crew and myself stayed up in London the evening before in order to get an early start. Given that I will most likely be leaving London in the dark on the actual event I wanted to replicate this so we left Marble Arch around 5am.
The strange thing about running in London at this time was that many people were on their way home from Halloween parties, seeing the Grim Reaper less than ten miles into the run was an ominous start. Sure enough the weather soon turned and the rest of the run was spent in the pouring rain.
Rosie and Jason took it in turns to cycle with me while the other drove and stopped occasionally to ensure I had enough food etc. I couldn't have asked for a better crew than these two and know I will be in safe hands come July.
In the end we did as far the 67 mile mark which took a little over 13 hours. Given that there had been a few stops to change kit and to try to warm up I was quite pleased with the time.
The following day I was pleasantly surprised to discover that I had very little in the way of aches and pains which gave me quite a confidence boost for next July.
I plan on running the rest of the route in a couple of weeks but will probably start a little further back than I stopped in order to get a good 30 mile run in.
