I have recently discovered that I suffer from Lane Rage, similar to road rage it is caused by idiotic swimmers. In the last few weeks I have been suffering while the same guy slowly swims breast stroke (badly) in the fast lane at my local pool while the rest of us are trying to get some training in.
I thought I had it sussed as I stayed in after he left thinking I could finally get some good uninterrupted lengths in but then a large group of “swimmers” got in and proceeded to do approximately two lengths then stood in the lane chatting!
It has been suggested that I try a couple of lengths of butterfly to get rid of these people or to accidentally kick them but any suggestions that won’t get me thrown out of the pool would be gratefully received.
Rant Over (for now anyway)

Jo you are amazing. I thought about this one after that first MoB and realised i would never have the dedication to take it to this level (at least not until the kids are a lot older!). You are an inspiration.

Too right Claire although we may have a few other issues to deal with like some rather large boats. Hope your training is going well for the Lanza ultra, I've signed up to go in April

Hi Jo,
Great website.
I also suffer lane rage and the longer the swims get, the worse it becomes!! We don't have that problem in the sea, do we??

Great site Jo! Butterfly certainly worked for me but it does get a few complaints -- what worked as well was I got a sign made that said 'TRAINING FOR THE CHANNEL'. It had some details on what I was doing, my drills of the day and how to help me. If someone was getting in my way by swimming breatstroke I qwould have a word and say that i am not being difficult but can we try and sort something out - not only made my swimming easier, but also got me some sponsorship! make the sign quite bright and don't forget to Laminate it. Wortha shot.

Outstanding Jo. Are you doing the Arch to Arc for a charity or your own sense of achievement? If you're fund raising then I'll hand over some dosh at the Picnic Marathon. You are going to be there? Ah go on go on go on go on go on.
