Loch Lomania postponed

E-mail Print PDF

Due to my injured glutes I am going to have to postpone Loch Lomania. I got injured during Eagle Isle and am still not fully recovered over 2 weeks later. I have left it so late to make a decision as I had hoped to be back in good shape in time for this event but swimming almost a marathon (on top of a run and cycle) would probably destroy any possiblities of me racing for the foreseeable future, thats even if my glutes held up for the entire swim.
As it is so late in the outdoor swim season (the event was due to be this sat) it is looking likely that the next possible date for this will be spring. I will work out what can be done as A2A is in september so would have to ensure there is sufficient time in between the events before I set the date.
I am very disappointed but don not wish to be out of action for longer than necessary, I will be doing a run later today to test out the muscles and have another physio appointment on thursday - thats the other bad news, my sports therapist who I've been seeing for 4 years has cancelled his clinics so need to get used to a new person. I have booked in with Roberto, who I've been to before, he treats a lot of my friends and I know he likes to inflict pain!
Caesars Camp 100 is coming up as is Indo Ultra so want to make sure I am as fit as possible for these, I have my title and record to defend for Caesars and Indo is the first outing of this race so am really looking forward to it

Loch Lomania

On the 18th September I will be doing an event called Loch Lomania, this is an event thought up by myself and Dave Scott. The format is in the style of arch to arc (run/swim/bike) so I will be running the length of the loch, swimming it then cycling it. This is all in aid of the Yamaa Trust - to donate please visit www.justgiving.com/jokilk
I am getting very nervous about this but fingers crossed I manage to complete this, having been pulled out of the swim halfway across during arch to arc I am hoping that the memory of that failure will keep me going to the finish.

Yamaa Trust fundraising

From now until September 2011 I will be gearing up for a second attempt at Arch to Arc. In the meantime I will be doing many silly events in aid of the Yamaa Trust
www.yamaatrust.com

The Yamaa Trust's aim is to reduce the effects of poverty in Mongolia. Last year they donated essential medical equipment and built 3 orphanages and one of the aims this year is to provide a scholl for the deaf which will include funding all the training for the staff.
One of the events I will be doing is Loch Lomania in September 2010 (run/swim/cycle along/in Loch Lomand) and the date for Arch to Arc will be September 2011 and will lnvolve an 87mile run from Marble Arch to Dover, swim across the Channel then cycle the 180miles to the Arc de Triomphe.

My next race will be Eagle Isle www.eagleisleultra.com and I also hope to do the Indo Ultra if work allows me the time off www.indoultra.co.uk

I will be heading up to Loch Lomond for a few hours swim on the 21st august and to recce the route. Dave Scott and Phil Briggs are helping me out on this as well as on the event so thanks to them in advance
I will be doing these events and all other events in between in aid of the Yamaa Trust so if you can donate and wish to the page is live www.justgiving.com/jokilk
