Lanzarote Ultra, Countdown!!!

This weekend I head off to Lanzarote to attempt the Lanzarote Ultra Triathlon. This event is organised by enduroman and a live feed of the event can be seen on the forum of www.enduroman.com.

I intend to start the run at 7pm on Monday 2nd feb with the aim of swimming at first light.

Eddie Ette, the current Enduroman Arch to Arc record holder, has just set a new record for the triathlon of 29hrs 57 mins. Fantastic work. I will be lucky enough to have him as crew, along with another friend of mine, when I make the attempt.

I will post a race report when I get back, I'm out there for a week, hopefully it will go well. It will be a great boost for my arch to arc training.

Fundraising

I have decided to use the Enduroman Arch to Arc event as an opportunity to raise money for the Meningitis Trust. The Trust helps those affected by the disease rebuild their lives and raises awareness about Meningitis. To donate, please visit my justgiving page www.justgiving.com/jokilkenny

I am also heading to Lanzarote on the 1st Feb to attempt the Lanzarote Ultra which is half the distance of Arch to Arc done in the same format. Steve Haywood and Claire Smith both had successful attempts mid December. If I succceed it will be a great confidence boost before A2A. I had intended to do Tring to Town again but I fly out to Lanzarote the weekend it is on so may just head to the start to cheer some of my friends like Mimi Anderson on. Good luck to all those doing it.

Training is on schedule for Lanza but am getting a little nervous about it all, but thats to be expected I suppose.

Up And Running

I finally got round to getting the cleats fitted to my road bike. Up and Running  (www.upandrunning.co.uk the triathlon store based in East Sheen) are my main sponsors and have given me a fantastic Felt bike. Verity & Co have been a great help when it comes to sorting out my biking equipment as well as the necessary running kit.

Luckily they seem as excited about Enduroman Arch to Arc as I am and have said they will be at the start line to cheer me on.

I am off to Bournemouth this weekend to get some running and cycling training in, its getting a little cold for the long sea swims so have to make do with some long and boring pool swims until the sea starts to warm up a liitle
