12hr run

E-mail Print PDF

This coming Wednesday I will be running 12hrs at my gym in training for the 24hr treadmill challenge. I work there part time so have asked the staff to attempt to keep me sane and to top up my water etc throughout the day. I have also managed to convince a couple of the regulars that it would be a good idea for them to come along and run with me for a while. Hopefully that will stop the boredom setting in.
If anyone is in the area (putney) and would like to pass an hour or 2 by running with me the gym is as follows :

I am hoping I can maintain a good pace, I will be starting as soon as the gym opens at 630am on 17th March, a bit of an alternative way to celebrate Paddy's day I know but this will be exactly a month before the 24hr run and will be a great boost to the training if it goes well.

8hrs done!

On saturday I headed down to Poole to do the 8hr treadmill run in Esporta. There were 2 treadmills set up in the foyer so it meant that I had people running alongside me for the majority of the run. This was a great help to keep me going and meant I was not as bored as I thought I would be so thanks to everyone who came along and ran with me for a bit - mainly Esporta staff so thanks to Paul & co for help setting this up. It was a great help for my training and a massive boost to my confidence for the 24hr run. I managed about 54miles and felt pretty good afterwards, no aches and pains so hopefully the 24hr run will go well. I had one hour during which I felt pretty crap, hour 3- 4, but put my ipod on and got through it. I actually enjoyed it in parts which was a bonus.
We managed to raise £147 pounds for BHF on the day thanks to Esporta members and staff who donated.
I will be doing a 12hr run beforehand too and hope to keep the same pace. I'll most likely be doing it on 17th March in my local gym but will put it on my site when I am sure what date I am doing

I will be raising money for the British Heart Foundation while doing this treadmill challenge. Running is, after all, a very good way to keep the heart healthy. Ok, maybe this is a slightly extreme way to do it but most people should know by now that I don't do things by half.
